July-ish 2022

This one’s late and short because, frankly, July was a bust - covid finally caught up to us and put me out of commission for the second half of the month. I’m grateful for our boosters for keeping it relatively mild, but the brain fog and general exhaustion really took its toll. It’s funny, dodging it while being an “essential worker” for two years, just for the call to come from inside the house. I cannot fathom that if I was still at my old job, they’d want me back after five days, even when still testing positive (which took two weeks to clear, mind you!) while still feeling like shit. Wild.

But all that aside, I was able to attend a lovely Fourth of July get together.

And once I was cleared for public decency, the Thank You Motel opened, featuring some really great pieces that are not apparent in any of these photographs.

Joe Grillo, a seasoned artist with a story or three to tell.

Thank You also hosts the 31st Street Shutterbugs, who held a neighborhood trash cleanup.

My August roll will definitely bleed into September, but I have a few projects up my sleeve. I didn’t go out to the studio at all in August (shame!), but the last 8 shots on this roll was from a test shoot that I’m going to play with in the darkroom. We’re about to head into fall, my favorite season, and I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in the near future.

Until then,

Katie
